BERSERKER

(BERSERKR)

(One who fights in a wild frenzy)

The savage wizard-warlord Saevus was always looking for ways to gain an advantage in any of the conflicts that he continuously waged against his rivals and neighbours. Consequently he was delighted when one of his minions developed a new breed of warrior dragons whose reckless valour was matched only by their barbarous hostility. These few maniacal beasts, for few they had to be lest they pose too great a danger to their own side, could be stirred into a frenzy of bloodlust and savagery that paid no heed to mortal peril or threat.

Reckless and relentless, death alone could stay them, and yet to the despair of their enemies, their inflamed fury seemed to lend them a shield of protection impervious to fire or steel. Berserkers they were named, and when unleashed they could tear great holes in the ranks of their foes, and strike terror into the hearts of all who fought on the battlefield from whichever side.
